>> Hi, I'm Kent German, Senior Editor here at CNET.com. Today, we'll take a First Look at the Motorola Razr2 V9x . This is a new phone for AT&T service. You're probably saying this looks a lot like the Motorola Razr2 V9 and there's good reason for that because they virtually are the same phone, almost an identical design, except for this has a black licorice color. We have that same bright external display with the touch controls down at the bottom. One of the improvements on this phone over the original Razr2 V9 is that you can actually access more features through the external display. You can do the music player and you can view the GPS function, you can access cellular video, you can get to your missed calls list, you can access messages as they come in, so it's nice to be able to access more features without opening the phone. Inside the phone is about the same, really bright, really colorful, very easy on the eyes, the same menu system, so no really changes there. Also, no changes down with keypad and the controls. The AT&T navigator is the biggest new feature inside the phone. So you can get traffic, you can get maps, you can get point-to-point directions. Once you start that up, you can get that through the external display. Other changes that we see are improved talk and standby times and also they bumped up that microSD slot from 4-gigs to accommodate cards at 8-gig. So if you like that Razr, AT&T does offer the V9x. Performance is equally good, call quality was great, so not a whole lot changes as far as performance and design, really just those added features. I'm Kent German and this is the Motorola Razr2 V9x . ^M00:01:25 [ Music ]
The good: The Motorola Razr2 V9x retains the slim and eye-catching Razr2 design while adding new features to an already impressive assortment of goodies. It's a good performer, too.
The bad: The Motorola Razr2 V9x lacks a speakerphone shortcut and its memory card slot is located behind the battery cover. Also, watching videos on the external display is a tad cumbersome.
The bottom line: The Motorola Razr2 V9x adds welcome improvements to an already excellent phone.
