>> I'm Nicole Lee, Associate Editor for CNET.com and this is a First Look at the Sanyo Katana Eclipse from Sprint's Nextel. As you can see here it's a very shiny reflective compact clam shell here. It's a very reflective mirror finish. On the front here is a simple 1-inch external display. And then there's a speakerphone right here, also the external speaker grill. Underneath the external display are three music player controls. On either side of the external display here are two strips LED indicators and these two provide illuminating or lighting effects to indicate incoming calls, as well as incoming text messages and so on and so forth. Flip open the phone and you get a pretty nice 2-inch display here. Kind of, you know mediocre, but that's okay for a phone of this price range. As you can see the menu interface is pretty simple to navigate through, very easy to use. We didn't really like the keypad too much. They're pretty slippery, a little bit crowded and they're very flat to the surface of the phone. Other features of the phone include a 1.3-megpixel camera. There's also a music player. It has EV-DO Rev A, so it has access to Sprint's TV, Sprint Music Store, which lets you download songs for 99 cents a track, which is a pretty good. So it's a very full-featured phone for only 99 with the two-year service agreement. My name is Nicole Lee and this has been the Sanyo Katana Eclipse. ^M00:01:27 [ Music ]

The bad: The Sanyo Katana Eclipse suffers from flat and slippery keys, plus mediocre photo quality.

The bottom line: Despite a few quirks, the Sanyo Katana Eclipse is an excellent midrange multimedia phone for Sprint customers.
