>> Hi, I'm Seth Rosenblat for CNETDownload.com. And in this First Look video we're looking at my current favorite music jukebox for Windows, called Media Monkey. Media Monkey has excellent library management tools that keep even the largest digital music collections organized. Integrated CD and DVD burning, a stellar customizable interface, a full featured encoder, and the ability to sync with portable audio devices, such as the iPod. You've got a pretty compelling product that's worth going ape over. When you launch the program, it'll ask to scan your hard drive for your music collection. I found my collection of more than ten thousand songs at home took about ten minutes to add. Not blazing fast, but not snail slow either. The interface is customizable, so you can highlight the areas that you use the most. Skin changes are instantaneous, and once you change from the default skin, you can drag and drop different components, move the playback controls to the top for example. The toolbars are also customizable. Let's get to the tracks. Files are sorted by their ID3 tags, and the extensive tagging features scan Amazon.com for all major database tags, from track names to album art. Synchronization is fast, and like most of Media Monkey, customizable. Audio DJ plays selections from your library, even when there are no requests in the queue, and the all important iPod and portable device synchronization works well enough to allow for DRM free tracks to be downloaded from the iPod to your hard drive. Built on the WinAmp playback engine, Media Monkey supports third party plug-ins, and has pretty good podcast catching abilities too. Considering the overall polish of the program, you'll be hard pressed to find something you don't like. For CNETDownload.com, I'm Seth Rosenblat, and this has been a first look at Media Monkey. ^M00:01:48 [ music ]
