>> Hey, this is Justin Hue [Assumed spelling], assistant editor at cnet.com, here today with the Canon [Inaudible] CP 770 portable printer. So this was released the same time as the Canon [Inaudible] 760, which we reviewed earlier. The only difference between that one and this one is that this comes with a removable bucket that lets you store your paper and ink -- and like I said it's the exact same printer -- so really all you're getting for that 50 dollars is this plastic bucket. It's got the same simple layout as the 760, you got the 2.5 inch TFT display here, as well as a bunch of soft buttons and hard button navigation key. The printer uses this external paper tray which folds out and is inserted into the disguise. And the printer ships with this paper pack that actually doubles as postcards on the back. Canon also has greeting cards, as well as 2 by 3 inch credit card sized paper that's available on their web site. Now the package doesn't include a lot of accessories, the main thing that you get is this bucket, which actually has enough room to store several packs of paper and ink. And the printer itself actually installs really easily onto the bucket. You just put it in here and there are tabs on the slide that just lock in -- and make it really easy for you to take on the go. ^M00:01:12 [ Music ] ^M00:01:31
>> Now for a device that's marketed as mobile-ready, it doesn't really come with a lot of the accessories that you need to make it wireless. It also prints photos a little slower than average. We tested it at 0.79 pages per minute, which is okay for a [Inaudible] printer, but there are definitely ink jet printers that can print much faster. The good: Rapid prints; excellent photo quality; simple design.
The bad: Long paper path; wireless accessories not included; no index view; expensive; lacks extra features.
The bottom line: The Canon Selphy CP770 is a neat, little dye-sublimation printer that includes a bucket for easy travel, but the wireless accessories aren't included. If you're shopping for a convenient travel-friendly printer, check out the Canon Selphy CP760 that offers the exact same technology with a similar style for a better price.
