>> If you leave yourself logged into your Gmail on a computer that you wish you hadn't, you can now close that session from another computer.
>> Gmail has added a remote feature that lets you track your recent sessions and sign yourself out remotely from another computer. All you have to do is look at a small information box at the bottom of your inbox, which will tell you about your last Gmail session and whether or not Gmail is still open, somewhere else. It also shows you an IP address. So if you don't recognize the IP address from the previous session, time to change passwords. As of now this features only works with Firefox and Internet Explorer 7. Sony is trying again with the Firmware update. The company had to pull the 2.4 version of its latest update to the Playstation 3 because it was breaking people's consoles. The new version 2.41 became available Tuesday morning. Electronic Arts is trying its hand at Scrabble on Facebook again. The company is launching a new version of Scrabble on Facebook, as well as on Pogo, it's casual gaming site. EA has done this before but US users were excluded. It may seem like it's too late especially given the fact that Scrabulous [assumed spelling], the imitation game has kind of run away with this opportunity. But I might give it a try, because one, I can't ever seem to remember what the difference is between light blue and dark blue squares, and Scrabulous doesn't tell you that. And two, there is certain words that should work that Scrabulous does not let you use, [inaudible]. T-Mobile may do a real roll out of 3G as early as October. This would only apply to its top twenty markets, but it's a start. Also, rumor has it that a Google android phone could be included in this 3G launch. We're not sure which manufacturer would offer Google's open operating system phone, but many believe it may be HTC. Android has been quite the urban legend these days, so I'm anxious to see one in the real world. I'm also anxious to see T-mobile's 3G, which they promise sometime this year, so if October's off base, it want be too much longer then that. A new study shows that fiber to the home is starting to take off internationally. A research firm called Point Topic found that more people are signing up for fiber optic broadband then cable Internet service. The bulk of this growth is in Asia, however, China is the number one fiber adopter with 2.5 million people who ordered it this year alone. Japan and Korea were second and third. And the US was fourth in fiber adoption. In total 4.2 million people signed up for fiber worldwide, while only 2.5 million signed up for cable. A new report out of English says that 83% of the workforce takes their blackberry with them on vacation, and 65% check it regularly while their suppose to be relaxing. Think back to your 4th of July holiday, how did you do? I actually did okay, checking mine only about once a day. The study goes on to say that 25% of the people studied check email on vacation and a third take their laptops with them. Okay, guilty on both fronts. Microsoft is saying that the amount that the European Union has fined the company for anti-trust is egregious [assumed spelling]. The EU wants Microsoft to pay 899 million euros, which is about 1.4 billion dollars. Microsoft says that this punishment does not fit the crime and they are appealing the fine. In other Microsoft news the company released a bunch of statements yesterday about how they are still willing to buy Yahoo after the August 1st shareholders meeting and hoping for a reorganization of the company's board. But those of you who wrote in about Microsoft said that I don't have to care about this anymore. Here are your responses to whether we all care about Microsoft and Yahoo. From Eric, I'm actually getting quite bored with this little game Microsoft is playing, it's like teasing a hungry dog with a steak. Christopher said, It's as dead as Cesar, please no more. And my favorite came from Lilliam [phonetic], I'm sure I'm saying his name wrong, he says, this deal or no deal has worn on us as much as the Clinton, Obama contest, I know I'm just plain tired of it, you can drop it at anytime.
