>> Hi, I'm Bonnie Cha, Senior Editor at CNET.com, and today we're taking a first look at the Nokia E71. Now, this takes the place of the aging Nokia E61i and they've done a really good job of slimming down the design. It's one of the sleekest QWERTY devices I've seen, and it's really nice and thin, and it's got this nice steel frame. So, it has this nice solid construction. Some trade-offs are you're gonna get a little bit of a smaller screen and keyboard, but I didn't have too many problems. People with larger thumbs might, but otherwise, it's pretty easy to use. They've also added a new personal and business-mode home screen. So, when you're at work, you can use the business mode and have access to your e-mail, your File Manager, and things like that, and when you get home, you can switch to personal mode where you'll have access to the web and things like your music library and videos. So, that's kind of a nice addition. As far as features, it's really just stocked with everything. It's got bluetooth, 3G, Wi-Fi, and GPS. It's got a nice productivity suite, so you can work on your word document and lots of e-mail support as well. The only downside I can find about this device is you're gonna pay about 500 dollars for an unlocked version and hasn't been picked up by a US carriers. So, that's why it's a bit expensive. But it's really fast, good call quality, so you can afford it. This is gonna be a great messaging device for business users. I'm Bonnie Cha and this has been your first look at the Nokia E71.

The good: The Nokia E71 features a slim design, while still managing to have a full QWERTY keyboard. The Symbian smartphone is stocked with features, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and U.S. 3G support. Voice, messaging, and productivity tools are also strong.

The bad: The E71 is expensive, and the display is on the smaller side. The keyboard is a bit cramped as well.

The bottom line: Mobile professionals who need a powerful but sleek messaging-centric smartphone will be well-served by the Nokia E71; just be prepared to pay a price.
