Buzz Report: CBS takes over Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Molly Wood, and welcome to the Buzz Report. This week, CBS takes over,
iPhone frenzy reaches slow boil, and some dirty, dirty computers. But first, it's the
Gadget of the Week.
The gadget of the week is the LG Dare. It's one of a slew of iPhone copycats that have
been appearing in the past few months. But the Dare has some slick tricks. For one thing,
the camera is not to be believed. It's 3.2 megapixels with face detection, noise reduction,
panorama photo stitching, low-light boost, and a built-in camcorder with slow-motion
playback. SICK! Then again, I hear the browser isn't very good and it doesn't have WiFi.
BUT, it has cool haptic feedback on the touch screen, which is helpful for menus and
scrolling on the browser. It's $199 with contract, and Dare I say ... that Dare is a silly
name for a pretty cool phone? Oh, I dare. I dare.
And now for the news. This week, CBS officially acquired CNET. We are part of the
family now! And I have to say, we're really blending fast ... and there are some oddities
about the corporate culture that I really wasn't expecting.
I really think this is how we should do it that way.
I'm sorry Molly, but the tribe has spoken.
Tom, you're acting like such a child.
Now you sound like my mother.
(studio laugh track)
Anyway. I think it'll be good.
In other headlines this week, rumor has it Microsoft is BACK, AGAIN, trying to put
together a consortium of companies that would all buy a little piece of Yahoo. I'm
starting to think Microsoft needs a restraining order. STALKER!!!
According to Greenpeace Nintendo is the worst tech company in terms of pollution and
toxic ingredients, and Microsoft is the second-worst. Greenpeace particularly rapped
Microsoft for its hazardous flame retardants and also ... for Windows Vista. See, now,
that's just jumping on the bandwagon. That's not even fair.
And finally, let's have a look at what's Clogging the Tubes.
This week, geeks like me are making happy sounds that only dogs can hear, because
there's a trailer online for Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along blog. What ... is that, you ask?
Ohoho. It's a three-episode musical Internet series, written by Joss Whedon, creator of
Buffy, Angel, and Firefly, and starring Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, and Felicia
Day. CHECK IT.

Coming July 15th! Eeeeeeeeeee!
[INHALES] I'm Molly Wood, and this has been the Buzz Report. Thanks for watching.
