>> eBay got hit with a huge fine earlier this week. A French Court ordered the Internet Company to pay $63 million to the makers of Louis Vuitton purses and luggage and for not doing enough to stop the sale of designer knock-offs. Joining us from our partner CNET is Executive Editor Molly Wood. Molly, good morning.
>> Good morning.
>> You know a lot of times you go to a flea market, you have a pretty good idea that the purse you may be wanting to purchase is fake, how can you tell online?
>> It's a lot harder to tell online, but there are some easy things you can do. One thing you might want to assume is that, if you are looking for luxury goods at eBay, there's a decent chance that what you're gonna find is a knockoff. Nevertheless, you might get lucky and so, one of the things you should do is first of all, use your eyes. Especially if you're an expert in this kind of high-end goods, there are some clues that will give it away. There might be stitching, kind of differences between the real thing and the fake. There may be a different-sized zipper. There may be a logo in the wrong place.
>> Right.
>> You know just look for listings that have a lot of detailed photos and compare it to what you know to be the case.
>> And if the price is comparable, is that a pretty good idea that it might be authentic?
>> Well, it may be and it may not. Price isn't always the best indicator.
>> Right.
>> Sometimes, you know one of the great things about eBay is people can sell a knock-off for a full price.
>> Right, but what about, can you check on the reputation of the seller? That's it -- that would be a great pull.
>> Yeah, definitely do that. And eBay is great because it breaks out positive and negative feedbacks, so go -- you know even if it's a 98% rating, click on those negatives one. f you even see one that says, 'I got a fake bag,' you're out of there.
>> There you go. Some good tips from you this morning. Thank you so much. Well, go to CNET to find out more about that. For more on these tips log on to our website earlyshow.cbsnews.com.
