>> In the wild, wild world of browsers, Opera is much like Terry Gilliam's Brazil, it's a cult classic. For some it's their favorite browser, and they'll use it before even considering anything else. I'm Seth Rosenblat [assumed spelling] for cnetdownload.com, and in this First Look video I'm going to show you why Opera's worth far more than mere cult status. The newest features make it clear to all that the plucky Norwegian browser has got some serious chops. It's fast enough to compete well against other top notch browsers, and stars tabbed browsing, mouseover previews, a customizable search bar, advanced bookmarking tools, and basic integration with email and chat clients. Mouse gesture support, keyboard shortcuts, and drag and drop functionality round out the essentials. It's really the extras that steal the show though. The one utility combines auto filling with save passwords, and now lets users confirm a successful login before saving credentials. It's hard to ignore the addition of torn [assumed spelling] support and real time fraud protection, bolstered by [inaudible] built in anti-malware engine. Meanwhile, Opera Link enables you to sync personal info like bookmarks, speed dial, and notes across different computers, and even cell phones. Quick Find turns the search tool into an all singing, all dancing golden child by allowing for full text searches from the address field, the history panel, and Opera history search. The status bar is once again visible on default, although the sidebar and navigation button history aren't, sadly. The new version is faster, has multiple back end changes to handle code better, and overall we think Opera has what it takes to get marquis billing. You just need to hear it sing.
