There's a new One Laptop Per Child machine. A cool new universal remote for Father's Day. And, get a sneak peak at Carrie Bradshaw's MacBook. It's Wednesday, May 21, I'm Natali Del Conte and it's time to get Loaded. ^M00:00:12 [ Music ] ^M00:00:14

>> A new One Laptop Per Child machine was announced yesterday and it's just as other worldly looking as the first generation machine was. This one is due out in 2010 and will have a dual sunlight readable touch screen display in a smaller folding e-book form factor. It also may cost as little as $75. Surely it will go through a transition after transition like the first one has, but we'll all be waiting with bated breath one way or another. Laptop users subscribing to AT&T's 3G wireless data service can now get free Wi-Fi on their Notebooks at any of the company's 17,000 Wi-Fi hotspots. AT&T announced this perk on Tuesday for laptop Connect Customers who pay $60 or more per month for cellular data service on AT&T's HSDPA and Edge Networks. This service is only available for laptop data card users. Not smart phones just yet, but the company does say that that's coming later this year. The FCC is fining Best Buy and other retailers for selling analog TVs without labels that explain that the units will not work after the digital TV's switch over in 2009. The FCC found TVs without warning labels in several Best Buys stores along with Wal-Mart and Sears. Best Buys is challenging the $280,000 fine basically saying that the FCC does not have the authority. The retailers say that they have made efforts to label the correct boxes and that the lack of proper labeling was not intentional. Greenpeace likes to call out electronics manufacturers for chemicals in their products. They're known for a particular vendetta against Apple. Now Greenpeace has a new target, gaming consoles. The organization published a new report and found that the Wii, Xbox and PlayStation do actually comply with the European Union Legislation on the reduction of hazardous substances. They found no mercury or cadmium and only trace amounts of lead and chromium in the boxes. They did however find undesirable chemicals, such as beryllium, PVC, bromine and phthalates. The report points out that phthalates can have an effect on sexual development especially in males. That explains a lot about gamers actually. Google Earth has a news layer that lets you read current affairs about the places that you're exploring. This is kind of like the way you read news on your Wii. You just fly over a location and it gives you headlines. Certainly not the biggest braking news on Loaded this week, but I think it's noteworthy. The ESPN ultimate remote will be available in time for Father's Day. This is a universal remote, a lot like Logitech's The One. We haven't actually seen this one yet, but it's supposed to manage your home theater components, set-top boxes and IP equipment with intuitive location free set-up using the standard wireless connection. You can also access the Internet with the one-touch button for TV listings, a weather widget, browsing, email and text messaging. You can pre-order it on Amazon right now for $300. It looks cool, but I don't think my Dad would take the time to figure this thing out, but I might. A company called ATX is working on a new Internet domain called dot CAR. This is for mobile browsing from your in-dash computer. The idea behind dot Car is that Websites will be built-out for this domain in a more simple and safe way. Now I'm inclined to think that Internet browsing has no business in the car, because of obvious safety issues, but this could bring about really great innovation in mapping, scheduling, traffic, even updated information from the vehicle's manual. Hopefully drivers will have the ware with all this to stay off their email from the car though. This one's for the ladies. The new Sex and the City movie comes out next week and the studio has a Website where you can actually look into Carrie's digital world. Go to sexandthecitymovie.com slash Macbook and you can surf around Carrie's desktop, see photos of her friends and read her sticky notes. Yes, this is a shameless movie promotion in a silly Flash application that simulates OS X, but I loved it anyway. Those are all your headlines for today, thanks for tuning in. I'm Natali Del Conte with CNET TV and you've just been Loaded. ^M00:03:50 [ Music ]
