Buzz Report: iPhone shortage scare intensifies Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Molly Wood, and welcome to the Buzz Report. This week, iPhone shortages, the
death of muni WiFi, and Man Babies. You'll see. First, though, the Gadget of the Week.
The Gadget of the Week is the BlackBerry Bold. As the next contender in the "not an
iPhone" lineup, the Bold is ... actually, pretty hot. Bonnie Cha said she was blown away
by the display, it's quad-band with HSDPA/UMTS ... that is, 3.5G. It's got WiFi, it's got
built-in GPS... and there's that good name. Bold. I like it. Makes me think of coffee.
Hmm. Maybe I should hold out for the BlackBerry Espresso ... oh, wow. They're totally
gonna do that.
And now for the news. The iPhone is sold out online. Even in stores, iPhones are
becoming increasingly scarce. The shortages are worldwide. And the Apple Worldwide
Developers' Conference, at which Steve Jobs is widely expected to announce the NEW
iPhone, isn't until June 9. Rioting is possible among those who simply don't care about
3G and want to join the iPhone revolution NOW. Authorities are warning against
stockpiling iPhones during the shortage, and say price-gouging will NOT be tolerated.
And officials say relief, in the form of a new iPhone ... may not arrive in time ... for
some.

We interrupt this broadcast for some breaking news. We've just found out that CBS will
be acquiring CNET Networks. Now, regular viewers of The Buzz Report might already
guess that I got some thoughts on this. Let me break it down for you. First,

Simple premise, terrifying and freakish results. Pretty much, the Internet in a nutshell.
Speaking of freaky Internet stuff, it's time for:
(music) What the Hell, with Brian Cooley
I see the Google Maps team is testing a new technique on their Street View:
Automatically detecting and blurring people's faces.
Here's a sample of what it looks like in some NY streets they've processed.
My question is why bother? These are scenes from public streets. The first word in
public street is 'public'.
What's to be afraid of? I just asked our web team here at CNET to scour Street View for
areas I frequent around San Francisco to see if they can find me in any. Ah, here are the
results now. Let's see what they found.
Says here they found a picture of me on Street View, getting a ride to work. Wait a
minute, I was just folding my umbrella!
Here's one, coming out of the bookstore, I wasn't coming out of THAT bookstore.
And soaking up the scenes around San Francisco. I WAS TUCKING MY SHIRT IN!
Like I said, Google needs to get that blur server cranked up right away.
Huh. See. I never even FIND myself on Google Street View. I mean ... uh, not that I'm
searching for myself. Or anything. Anyway. I'm Molly Wood and this has been the Buzz
Report. Thanks for watching.
