First Look: Foxit PDF Reader If there was ever a freeware tool needed to repalce the popular standard, the PDF reader is it. Fortunately for those of us who have better things to do than wait for a PDF to open, there's the light but loaded Foxit PDF Reader. **** I'm Seth Rosenblatt, associate editor at Download.com, and we're taking a First Look at Foxit Reader, a great alternative to that bloated and sluggish PDF reader most people feel oddly compelled to use. **** The interface should be instantly recognizable to anybody who's used a PDF reader before. The icon toolbar is customizable, and the program supports tabbed PDF reading so that you can easily jump from one document to the next. The program doesn't lack for tools, including bookmarking, emailing, zooming, and full screen views. **** The annotation tool supports all standard note-making and editing, as long as the PDF hasn't been secured against changes. Foxit opens PDFs from the Internet in their own window, so you don't have to worry about your PDF reader stalling your browser. **** Along with the basics, Foxit supports embedded audio and video, printing highlighted-only sections, a PDF-creator that converts documents to PDFs, and more. **** For my money, the best thing about Foxit is the speed with which it opens PDFs. It's like going from a four-cylinder car to an eight, but for free, and who doesn't like that kind of speed? Thanks for watching this First Look at Foxit Reader, I'm Seth Rosenblatt for CNET Download.com.
It's time to replace that bloated, sluggish PDF reader everybody on the planet has been using with something leaner, faster, and--no, really--easier to use. Join Seth Rosenblatt as he takes a First Look at Foxit PDF Reader.
