>> I'm Jessica Dolcourt of CNET Download.com and this is a first look at Digsby. Digsby is the new kid on the block that's even better than multiple network IM clients like Trillian and Pidgin because it adds IM, email and your social networks into one and it throws some plenty of extras. Let's take a look at some of the highlights. First, the app interface itself. Digsby arranges your IM contacts and chose their affiliated network and icons. You can also show or hide your IM networks to easily log on or off and this is the coolest part, you can read or compose your email, send a sweeter Twit and read Facebook and MySpace news feeds from Digsby. Now, let's look at the chat interface. Conversations are tabbed by default, but you can break them out too by going through the preferences. More on that later. In the conversation window, you can perform a nice complete list of actions including transferring files, sending email or SMS messages, starting on audio or video chat and setting alerts. There are two ways to chat, you can chat through the conversation window or respond directly in the notification window that pops up anytime someone IM's you. You'll actually receive notification bubbles for any activity. When a new email message arrives or a friend updates, Twitter for instance. However, having your notifications for all services enabled can get a little distracting. Luckily, there are twigs galore, which is the final highlight for this video. You can choose if you wanna show icons in the task tray or pick a master profile picture. You can select loud and sort your buddy list how you like. There are gazillion skins for the interface and conversation windows. You can selectively turn-off notification pop-ups, create widgets and follow links to your online account. Digsby looks good and performs impressively especially considering how many features and functions that's got crammed into it. I'm Jessica Dolcourt and this has been Digsby for Windows, Linux and Mac.
Move over, Trillian and Pidgin. This stylish chat app combines multiple instant-messaging accounts with Web e-mail, Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter, and throws in file transfers and SMS, too.
