>> Okay, you engine gear heads. Here's something new when it comes to valve train technology: spherical valves. These rotating spheres that have these nachos cut out of them are the key. As they turn on ceramic bearings, they can achieve very high engine RPM and can both charge and evacuate cylinders very efficiently at those high RPM. It allows for higher compression ratios, less the air breathing, and of course high RPM without the valve float that kills traditional valve trains. This is the Coates spherical rotary valve train and it can hit about 15,000 RPM, 15 to 1 compression and thanks to those ceramic bearings, it does not require typical oil lubrication on the valve train.
