2008 Saleen S302 Extreme Video Transcript
>> So you just brought a Mustang GT, you hotted [assumed spelling] it all up, even did some [inaudible] modes [assumed spelling], that's great because this car will eat your car.
>> This is a Saleen S302 Extreme, top of the line for the most ordacious [assumed spelling] Mustang hot rider in the world. ^M00:00:20 [ Music ] ^M00:00:26
>> Let's do it by the numbers, 620 horsepower, 600 foot-pounds of torque, seriously.
>> How did they get there? First of all, they clamp on a twins screw super charger, so that's the big difference. After that it's all massaging. Do all the stuff right, port [assumed spelling] polished, blueprint, balance, make it breathe better, yeah it's got an intercooler on there, you need that. But the button line is it's a based Mustang 302 GT they start with, then they give it this. Now, you're not going to take that kind of performance and power, and run it through a stock [assumed spelling] mustang GT Suspension, not unless you got a death wish, no offense to Ford. So what Saleen does is drop that suspension out, put a whole new race craft suspension under there, they do all the stuff right, I'm not going to kill you with every components, but a couple of highlights. 20 inch wheels, otherwise, you can't get big enough [inaudible] to control this thing. And they put in some big breaks that have six pott [assumed spelling] calipers [assumed spelling]; this thing stops just about as well as it gets going. Technology in this car in interesting, now mustangs aren't known for having lots of cabin tech, but you can get a navigation system in the Saleen S302 Extreme, and also and Ipod adapter, so it's not exactly a tech showcase, but I do like a couple touches on the dash, I'm a big dash fetishist. Nice new Saleen gauges that they add in on their cars, taking out the stock's Ford units. And I like the little blister up here with these two boost gauges, you get your boost PSI, and your air temperature here for your intake. These, of course are key things on a car set up this way. Other niceties is the one you just love, that means you don't even need a good stereo, is that exhaust system. It's a custom Saleen stainless steel center section rig, and let me tell you, it just sounds great. Transmission choices are either this very meaty [assumed spelling] feeling, six-speed manual, or a three speed automatic, kidding.
>> As the most power car Saleen has ever done, this S302 extreme offer 0 to 60 in the sub four-second range. Price is just a tick under 80 grand to start, and just a 100 copies are going to come off the line in the first year.
The name sounds like a killer video game--but this Mustang is way more fun.
