>> Hi, this is Jessica Dulcor [assumed spelling] from CNETonline.com, and this is a first look at Nexus Radio. This free radio app streams internet radio, but it does so much more than that. It also lets you create and save playlists, record songs, and edit songs into MP three format for your computer or portable player. Nexus Radio has a pretty attractive interface. There's a lot crammed in here, but it doesn't feel cluttered. There's a built in volume control, menu options, and a control panel for on the fly burning. To get started on the main menu, choose a music genre. Stations are listed alphabetically, but other than the name there's really not much additional information. It's pretty much a toss-up, you'll have to hunt and peck for a station you like. You can hang onto favorite stations by adding them through the control panel, or save a particularly awesome song by recording and saving the streaming track. Better yet, you can create and save play lists from the recorded songs. You can add your own songs too, but unfortunately not by dragging or dropping them into the play list. You have to go through Nexus Radio's browsing mechanism to grab those files. The filter function is also pretty cool. You enter an artist or song keyword, and when it plays, Nexus Radio will start recording. Other audio tools include a basic MP three audio editor, and an on-screening equalizer. If you want some visual stimulation, you can rotate among Nexus Radio's five different visualizers. It's nice to know that you can do pretty much everything the program offers from inside the main window. There are some limitations though. As I mentioned before, the audio editor is far from advanced, but it does let you quickly and easily trim and save track. Nexus Radio won't manage your music, convert between different file formats, or burn to disc, but it does have good station variety. It's also free, and it's got good sound quality too. I'm Jessica Dulcor looking at Nexus Radio. ^M00:01:44 [ music ]
