>> Hi, I am Seth Rosenblack from CNETdownload.com and today we're taking a first look at Bit Torrent. The original Torrent client that started with simple features, and a simple design, and hasn't changed much. Although when I started Torrenting low those many years ago, I used Bit Torrent. I've since moved on. Recently I've been curious to see if it's undergone any major improvements. So let's take a look. First off let's drop in an active Torrent so can see how this works. When we load up the Torrent file, we are presented with an option to change the save location. Clicking on the Torrent activates the buttons on the tool bar, which are also available from the right click context menu. I like right clicking better because it gives you access to the Torrent priority, a function the tool bar lacks. The main interface is so basic you could almost call it my first Torrent. Below the menu bar, you get five basic buttons. Looking at the info pane, we see tabs for the Torrent details, the file list, the peer list, download speed, and the log, which displays the tracker errors. Open folder, a button on the right, opens the folder that the Torrent is being saved to. Add starts a Torrent hosted either locally or on the web. And we have gone over info, pause and remove should be self-explanatory to all, and open runs the fully downloaded file. The most compelling part of the interface is the built in search function, but there is a catch. Firing up a search opens up your browser and takes you to the Bit Torrent web site, complete with paid and free Torrent content. To paraphrase a line from one of my favorite movies, this might not be the search droid you're looking for. Neither the fastest or the lightest Torrent client around, one thing is for sure, Bit Torrent is the only one with its own web site serving you Torrents. Whether you think that's a good thing or a bad thing, I'll leave it to you to decided. For CNETdownload.com, I'm Seth Rosenblack and this has been a first look at Bit Torrent. ^M00:01:52 [ Music ]
