Top 5 most collectible computers

Just posted the latest top 5 about most collectible computers. This is certainly a matter of opinion, and I know a bunch of you will disagree. And maybe some will agree wholeheartedly. Who knows?

What I hope you will agree on is the new look for the Top 5. The CNET video labs worked day and night to pop out a cleaner, more refreshing presentation for the list. Tell us what you think about that, too. So here are the easy steps for expression your outrage/agreement at my top 5 and its new look.

Step One: Watch the Top 5 here. I mean, you honestly can't expect to rip me apart or ooze sycophancy without actually watching, now can you?

Step Two: Come back to this blog post.

Step Three: Click the comment link and write your comment.

See? Don't you feel better now?

very good list

a very good list. I would have thought the apple II series was gonna make #1, but i guess the apple did. Hard to imagine that the apple was made all from wood.

I also like how you did the green screen in the back, but what about the new cnet graphics. I saw a video on the back-to-school laptops and it had a 3-d cnet logo and everything was sliver and black. you had that on the graphics on the green screen, but the rest. I know some vieos are old, but this one looks like it was made today or yesterday.

and one more thing, I live in northwest oregon, any chance on telling me when the new cnet tv will be in my aera?

A contender?

Back in the late 70's I used to build Processor Technology's SOL-20 as a kit for customers who didn't want to wait for an assembled version. It used a Zilog Z80 chip, had wooden side panels with a built-in keyboard. It used a modified Hitachi TV set to produce 64x16 video. I built my own in 1978 and had a power-packed 16KB of memory! Later I added a Northstar 90K floppy disk system to replace the cassette tape system that loaded the op system and programs.

TI99/4A All The Way!

It was the most advanced computer of its time. It was the only one with expansion box and speech synthesizer. The voices sound real, not electronic. It had plug in game and software modules. Ain't nostalgia great?

What about the Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80

My first computer was the Radio Shack Tandy TRS-80. You had to program in Basic. I had a few games with too. It didn't come with a monitor, so you had to hook it to your TV.

Hey, I like the TI99-4A, but the Atari 800 rocked

The Atari 800 was a truly awesome system. I never had more fun with display list interrupts, peeking, poking, Data statements with cryptic comma separated values that lasted forever, and playing both Caverns of Mars and Montezuma's Revenge.

I actually liked the old version of the top 5 better with the old intro, but maybe with the new color scheme, anyway, this top 5 was great I seriously would buy an Apple I if I could =)
